The llPDFLib has been, by far, the easiest way to create PDF's in Delphi. I can now choose to either build a report in QuickReports and have it CORRECTLY convert it to a PDF or simply write directly to the PDF file itself. It is small and compact, and I can even use it to create console applications. Defiantly a must have.

The following is a true story!

We have built a web application using Delphi 5 and Intraweb 5. Several features of our app required the dynamic creation of .pdf files (Long, multi page reports) based upon the users requests.

In our stand-a-lone software, we accomplished this by coding our program to search for an installed copy of the Adobe distiller and if found, changing the printer index and 'printing' to the distiller. This works very well but requires our end users to have the adobe distiller.

When we wanted to do the same thing on the web app server, we contacted Adobe to purchase the needed product. We were very frustrated to find that it would cost us $5000.00 But, wait! When we started to make arrangements with our hosting service we were told that they could not load that version of the adobe distiller. We were told to contact Adobe once again. This time we were told that the version we would need would cost us $15,000.00!

In steps llionsoft! We purchased the component set, installed it and gave it a try. We changed the code to work with the llionsoft component instead of a printer (it is very straight forward), compiled the app and uploaded to the server. Poof - the user could input their information needs and the app produced the .pdf file. The next thing our users see is the .pdf file being displayed on their monitor. Click one button and they can print a local copy.

So, $299.00 Vs $15,000.00 What more needs to be said!
